WHAT IS MASSAGE?
Massage is a hands on, allied health modality that is used to treat muscles and soft tissues which may be tense, painful, damaged or inflexible. Other benefits include stress reduction, relaxation, increased circulation of the blood and lymph systems.
Conditions treated may include but are not limited to neck and back pain, headaches, muscle tightness or discomfort, strains and soft tissue injuries, sports injuries, osteoarthritis, whiplash and scholiosis.
A massage treatment may include a variety of techniques including deep tissue massage, trigger point, dry needling, hot stones, passive stretching, kneading, long strokes, deep circular motions, modern cupping and passive joint movements.
Here at the Kingston Massage we offer 60 minute appointments, so that you can get the full benefit from your massage therapy treatment without feeling rushed. Our therapists have a passion for understanding the mechanical parts of the human body. They look at your specific symptoms and develop a customised treatment plan to best suit your needs. Assessment may include a conversation about your areas of need to help identify the problem areas, palpation, visual assessment and manual testing for immobility.
WHO ARE WE?
It is not uncommon for a massage therapist to have their own backstory about an issue they had with their own body , and success with massage treatments which has been the catalyst to their interest in massage therapy as a career. They want to share the pain relief and benefits of the modality with others.
If you have ever been out for coffee with a massage therapist, you would know that they cannot help but look at other peoples posture and movements. They can't help but analyse and assess even when they are not working! They are passionate about what they do, and are always learning and growing professionally.
A registered Massage therapist has a professional qualification, holds professional indemnity insurance and is a member of a professional association who ensures that the practitioner stays up to date with Continual Professional Development (CPD) and modern industry standards.
